Shirts

Don't discard your favorite pull over shirt if it just a plan shirt there are really pretty decals that you can iron on.
if you use the iron on wash in cold water and line dry don't put them in a hot dryer.
You can monogram your blouses this way to just have fun with your project.

Planing

Make sure when you decide on a quilt pattern to take your time and plan the length and width carefully.and make sure you have enough fabric to finish your quilt,if you have a color wheel it will help you match you colors .
Before you make your first cut be sure to wash your fabric to shrink it don't dry your fabric completely take your fabric out of the dryer damp and use a dry iron to press it out.
Make sure your hands and the area your laying you fabric on is clean this will protect your pattern pices from spots ending up in your finished quilt.
I am have a problem getting a new cord for my camera, soon i hope to show you different quilt  patterns.

Quilts

If  you have hand made quilts  handle with care don't wash them unless they are real dirty if you must use a gentiel   shop wash on gentile cycle.

Some quilts you might want to insure, quilt value can be appraised .
When you store your quilts warp the in non acid paper and store them in a clean storage container, ceder  chest is best .

     Have a fun day.

pucker-free applique

I like  to make appliqued quilts ,i find they are the easiest to master but some time you can have a pucker and there is away to have a pucker free applique place stabilizer beneath the foundation or if you are hand appliqueing put the stabilizer under your pattern piece that your going to attach to your foundation then do your applique with out worry.
I hope this helps the beginner or the seasoned sew-er.

If your mom like to sew she might like a new sewing box, maybe some fabric for her stash,
Now if she like to garden a flat of her favorite flowers,or some new gardening tools.
or just think about what she is interested in mom are not hard to please they just want to know you pay attention to them when they hint : )

Cut them off at the knee and make shorts
cut the good parts into squares for quilts.
you can make small pocket purse's.
I will be posting pictures i had to order a cord for my camera.
An other tip if  you have  ever had trouble keeping your bed sheets tight use a safety pin and pin the corner of your bottom sheet, don't do this on a child bed.

My Doggies Bed

Our Mollie loves her new bed i made for her :)
This is a good way to recycle  old drapes,
1.Size 56x84
2.cut away the top rod holder
3fold in half
sew around leaving an opening for batting, the close the opening by hand (i used snaps so i could get the batting out so i can launder the bed)
measure for the bottom of the bed this depends on what size you pet is,measure 12in from the side and run a tack seam around the bed ,take the bed to you machine and resew the seam.

Book Cover

Book covers are good to use to keep your books looking new.
These book covers require stretch stitch and are relatively simple to make ,a great use for those Lycra scrapes.

Materials needed:

2way stretch fabric
Thread
Sewing machine with a stretch or serger
.
Note: Tow way stretch fabric must stretch on the lengthwise ans crosswise grain. Bathing suit Lycra works well .
Your seams must be sewn with a stretch.

Quick and Easy Tie Tack Beach Quilt

I like to buy pillowcases and use them to make beach quilts, it's cheap so if they get messed up over the summer it's no big deal to just throw it away and make am new one, also they make great gifts for grand kids :)

Here's how to do it:

 1. Cut your pillow cases into squares (or what ever quilt pattern you chose)

2.For the size of quilt you want use an old soft blanket for the filler ( this goes in between the backing and quilt patches)

3. For your backing you will use a new flat sheet. (make sure to wash first to allow shrinkage, no puckering after the quilt is together).

4. Use yarn (any color you want) for and make 6 inch strings ( about 15 total) use this to quilt your layers together (quilt squares, filling and backing)

5.Take a large quilting needle and using you 6 inch yarn, insert from top and pull through to the back and loop back up through to the top then take your sting and tie off, repeat this through out until you have quilted the entire blanket together.

6. Make a hem around the edges and you have yourself a easy and cheap beach quilt. :D

Hope everyone enjoys my project for today!
